Samsung Kenya Apps Contest Winners Are Named
Samsung announced an apps contest sometime last year. The actual contest happened on 16th Dec 2010. The festive mood went with our concentration and so we have to apologise and for this late info. All-in-all, the results are out. The apps will be avaliable on Bada and Android smartphones by Samsung and will be sold or distributed through Samsung apps store.
Mikul Shah – Eat Out Mobile
Eat Out Mobile is Kenya’s first mobile restaurant guide, allowing users to search for restaurants using location, cuisine and budget. The application also benefits from having a popular website and Facebook page .
Paul Mungai– Tweet Drill Down
Using the phone’s current geographic location as a reference point, the application will retrieve geo-located tweets within a given geographic radius and provide the capability to filter the data based on certain criteria e.g. crime, food, sports, politics & people
Sam Kariu – Geuza
Geuza is a Swahili-English translator game app that test’s your knowledge in Swahili vocabulary
and helps you improve your fluency.
Nelly Ndonye – Nelly Data
Mobile application for providing real time data from the Nairobi Stock Exchange (NSE)
Bernard Owuor – Zynde Money Manager
This application plugs into Zynde.com – A Kenyan money management (budget, expenses, income, tax etc) web site. The Bada application allows individuals, employees and SMEs to Track their finances through their Bada phones on the move.
The developers will be expected to do some app improvements and modifications, host applications on Samsung Servers, submit them into Samsung App Store. The 200k and promotion will now be conducted this year (2011).
